The crowd at Monday's non-league challenge between the Johnson Central Golden Eagles (Paintsville, KY) and the host Powell County Pirates (Stanton, KY), observed Johnson Central's basketball team knock off Powell County by a score of 89-73.

The Golden Eagles (11-7) will now prepare for their challenge against Huntington Expression Prep (Huntington, WV). The Kings come into the non-league challenge with a 8-9 record. In their last challenge, Huntington Expression Prep was knocked off by Boyd County (Ashland, KY), 104-62, in a non-league challenge.

In their next game, the Pirates encounter the Wolfe County Wolves (Campton, KY) in a non-league challenge, on Friday, February 7. Powell County will attempt to improve on its 13-7 season record.
