Texas High School Basketball - Vela bests Pioneer

The Vela Sabercats basketball team scored 55 points and limited the host Pioneer Diamondbacks to 40 in the Sabercats league triumph on Friday.

The Sabercats now possess a 33-4 record. They play next when they travel to Rivera for a non-league game on Tuesday, February 18. Vela will confront a Raiders team coming off a 71-68 league loss to Edcouch-Elsa (Edcouch, TX). The Raiders record now stands at 18-14.

With the loss, Pioneer falls to 14-19 on the campaign. The Diamondbacks travel to Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Memorial (Alamo, TX) to confront the Wolverines in a 5A Region IV District 31 game on Tuesday, February 11. The Wolverines go into the game with a record of 8-20. Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Memorial won 53-42 in their recent league game against Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Southwest (Pharr, TX)
