In Saturday's non-league contest, the host New Castle Hurricanes basketball team scored a close 57-56 win over the Aliquippa Quips.

The Hurricanes (18-3) will now prepare for their contest against Bishop Canevin (Pittsburgh, PA). The Crusaders come into the non-league contest with a 7-7 record.

In their next game, the Quips battle the Chartiers Valley Colts (Bridgeville, PA) in a non-league contest, on Wednesday, February 12. Aliquippa will attempt to better on its 16-4 season record. The Colts come into the contest with a 18-3 record after their 61-50 league win over Mars (Mars, PA).
