The Van Meter Bulldogs basketball squad (Van Meter, IA), was nudged 63-61 in Thursday's non-league battle with the host Newton Cardinals (Newton, IA)

With the victory, Newton advances its record to 10-9 on the year. The Cardinals host Bondurant-Farrar (Bondurant, IA) to meet the Bluejays in a non-league battle on Tuesday, February 18. The Bluejays enter the battle with a record of 10-8.

The Bulldogs now own a 13-8 record.
