In Friday's non-league contest, the host St. John's Prep Eagles basketball team scored a close 71-68 triumph over the Methuen Rangers.

The Eagles (2-16) will now prepare for their contest against Wachusett Regional (Holden, MA). The Mountaineers go into the non-league contest with a 7-13 record. In their last contest, Wachusett Regional was tipped by North (Worcester, MA), 56-55, in a non-league contest.
