Saranac Spartans (Saranac, NY) backers were pleased Thursday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the host Peru Nighthawks (Peru, NY), 51-46 in a league bout.

With the victory, Saranac upgrades its record to 9-9 on the campaign. The Spartans host Northeastern Clinton (Champlain, NY) to play the Cougars in a Section 7 Champlain Valley I bout on Tuesday, February 20. The Cougars come into the bout with a record of 8-11. Northeastern Clinton lost 60-38 in their recent league bout against Plattsburgh (Plattsburgh, NY)

Next up, the Nighthawks play the Beekmantown Eagles (Plattsburgh, NY) in a Section 7 Champlain Valley I bout, on Tuesday, February 20. Peru will attempt to upgrade on its 3-15 season record. The Eagles come into the bout with a 13-5 record after their 69-48 non-league loss to Moriah (Port Henry, NY).
