Utah High School Basketball - Lehi topples Highland
March 2, 2022: Salt Lake City, UT 84106 In Wednesday's non-league outing, the Lehi Pioneers (Lehi, UT) basketball squad beat the host Highland Rams (Salt Lake City, UT), by a count of 49-38.
The Pioneers (24-4) will now prepare for their outing against Springville (Springville, UT). The Red Devils go into the non-league outing with a 21-5 record. In their last outing, Springville defeated Bountiful (Bountiful, UT), 41-21, in a non-league outing.
The Rams now hold a 18-4 record.
First Quarter
Tara Smith hit a three and ended with 5 points in the first quarter. Jamisyn Heaton added 4 points. The Lehi girls played great holding Highland to just 3 foul shots. The score at the end of the first quarter is Lehi 9 and Highland 3.
Second Quarter
Savannah Jones came off the bench and hit 1 three and 2 two point shots to lead Lehi in a 18 point second quarter. Maci Wall added 6 points. HIghland scored 14 points and the score at the end of the first half is 27 to 17 in favor of Lehi.
Third Quarter
Jamisyn Heaton hit 2 three-point shots in the third quarter but that was the only scoring for the Pioneers in the period. Highland scored 9 points and cut the Lehi lead to 7 points as the final quarter begins.
Fourth Quarter
Lehi only made 1 basket in the fourth quarter but shot 11 for 14 from the foul line to seal the deal. The final score is Lehi 49 and Highland 38. Jamisym Heaton led Lehi with 14 points and Maci Wall added 10 in the game. Lehi will play for the State title at BYU against Springville.
