In Friday's non-league contest, the Wayne County War Eagles (Waynesboro, MS) softball team held off the visiting Long Beach Bearcats (Long Beach, MS), by a margin of 3-2.

With the triumph, Wayne County moves its record to 1-0 on the year. The War Eagles host South Jones (Ellisville, MS) to play the Braves in a 6A Region 5 contest on Thursday, March 17. The Braves come into the contest with a record of 2-2.

In their next game, the Bearcats play the Biloxi Indians (Biloxi, MS) in a non-league contest, on Friday, March 4. Long Beach will attempt to move on its 2-2 season record. The Indians come into the contest with a 3-0 record after their 10-0 non-league win over Pass Christian (Pass Christian, MS).
