Willows Honkers (Willows, CA) fans exited the stadium thrilled Tuesday as they saw their softball squad achieve victory over the visiting Live Oak Lions (Live Oak, CA), 16-0 in a league challenge.

The Honkers now sport a 5-1 record. They take the field next when they travel to East Nicolaus for a Sacramento Valley challenge on Wednesday, March 6. Willows will face a Spartans squad coming off a 10-0 league win over Esparto (Esparto, CA). The Spartans record now stands at 5-1.

With the loss, Live Oak falls to 0-2 on the campaign. The Lions host Durham (Durham, CA) to face the Trojans in a Sacramento Valley challenge on Tuesday, March 12. The Trojans enter the challenge with a record of 4-0.

The Honkers started out league play with a bang, pounding out 20 hits, including 8 extra base hits. The Honkers have a great combination of power and speed. Megan Hughes was 3 for 4 with a homerun and 3 RBI's, Samantha Brott was 3 for 4 with 2 triples, a double and 2 RBI's, Rylee Smith was 3 for 4, Delainy Ward was 3 for 3, Kassidy Millen was 2 for 4 with a triple and double, Morgan Hughes was 2 for 4 with a double, and Macy Baker was 2 for 3. Samantha Brott got the win going 3 innings and only giving up 2 hits. Rylee Smith pitched two hitless innings to finish the game.
