In Thursday's non-league challenge, the Compton Tarbabes (Compton, CA) baseball squad the visiting Locke Saints (Los Angeles, CA), by a final score of 4-2.

With the win, Compton upgrades its record to 1-0 on the season. The Tarbabes travel to Fremont (Los Angeles, CA) to battle the Pathfinders in a non-league challenge on Monday, March 9. The Pathfinders come into the challenge with a record of 0-3. Fremont lost 10-0 in their recent non-league challenge against Gardena (Gardena, CA)

With the defeat, Locke falls to 0-1 on the season. The Saints host Animo Venice (Los Angeles, CA) to battle the Pirates in a non-league challenge on Wednesday, March 11. The Pirates come into the challenge with a record of 1-2.

In the opening game of the non-conference season, the 'Player of the Game' goes to Andy Rosales, 3-Time All-Moore League southpaw pitching sensation. Coach John Thompson promised to use Rosales differently than in the past and a well rested Rosales struckout 17 Locke High batters, while allowing just 3 hits, no earned runs, and only 1 walk in a 4-2 win played at CHS. After a closely knotted pitching contest tied at 0-0 thru 3 innings, the 'Babes' of Compton put up a 4 spot thanks to the timely hitting of Robert Navarro, Manny Lopez, 2014 All Moore League performer, Zan Thomas, and clutch hitting of Rosales, put the "Babes' out in front for good. Andy broke his previous strikeout record of 15 against the Dominguez High Dons last season. Coach Thompson has stressed defense in summer, fall, and winter ball and even though the 'Babes' finished with 4 errors against Locke,he says his team will be better defensively, which should keep them in most games.
