The Wayne County Cardinals basketball team scored 61 points and held the visiting Russell County Lakers to 57 in the Cardinals non-league triumph on Friday.
The Cardinals now sport a 9-10 record. They put it on the line next when they host Mercer County for a non-league contest on Saturday, March 6. Wayne County will meet a Titans team coming off a 72-59 non-league loss to Taylor County (Campbellsville, KY). The Titans record now stands at 7-6.
The Lakers (11-12) will now prepare for their contest against Jackson County (McKee, KY). The Generals enter the non-league contest with a 4-9 record. In their last contest, Jackson County was nudged by Bell County (Pineville, KY), 72-44, in a non-league contest.
