California High School Volleyball - Lake Balboa College Prep crushed by Canoga Park
March 5, 2025: Canoga Park, CA 91303 In Wednesday's non-league match, the Canoga Park Hunters (Canoga Park, CA) volleyball squad prevailed the visiting Lake Balboa College Prep Cougars (Lake Balboa, CA), by a count of 3-0.
Next up, the Hunters battle the Kennedy Cougars (Granada Hills, CA) in a Valley Mission game, on Monday, March 10. Canoga Park will attempt to advance on its 2-3 season record.
The Cougars (0-3) will now prepare for their game against Lakeview Charter (Sylmar, CA). The Lions go into the non-league game with a 1-2 record. In their last game, Lakeview Charter went down by Fulton (Van Nuys, CA), 3-1, in a non-league game.
Match Summary
After a poor start in set 1 Lake Balboa found themselves down 0-5. They clawed back to make it 7 all then yielded the lead on a Hunter sideout 7-8. 2 rotations later the Cougars were down 8-17. Canoga Park was then able to coast to the finish line. LBCP could not shake off the funk of set 1 and opened set 2 down 1-12. if you're not within at least 3 points you have pretty much lost control of the game. Set 2 ended in a 6-25 shellacking. This was the low point of the day. Again, the Popeye moment. Lake Balboa picked themselves up off the floor & scored first in set 3. Points were traded back & forth before the Rocky Balboas started to throw some punches offensively & opened a 6-3 lead. Canoga Park stormed back 6 all only to have the Cougars take it right back 11-6. Again the Hunters tied it at 11. 12 all, 14-13 Canoga & the teams continued to trade blows going to 16 all. Mean green would take the lead only for Lake to scrap back. 19 all, 22-21 CP, 23 all, 24 all before losing 25-27.
