Coaches Game Summary

The Cavaliers got off to a good, albeit somewhat sloppy, start to the season before a large crowd of parents, teachers, alumni, and fellow students at the Heights. Freshman Matt McCreary threw 3 innings, striking out 6 and not allowing a single earned run. However, errors robbed the Cavaliers of the momentum they had built up during the 1st inning. Senior Luke McCabe sparked the team offensively, going 4 for 4 with 2 doubles, a triple and a single also with a nice day at the plate, junior first baseman, George Koutris, started things off in the first inning with a 3-run homerun. Despite the sloppy defense, the pitching helped the team stay in the game and keep a slim lead as the offense exploded the last few innings to complete the mercy rule. Matt McCreary picked up his first career win for the Varsity.
