March 19, 2026: Coal City, WV 25823

The Independence Patriots softball team scored 11 runs and held the visiting Liberty Raiders to 3 in the Patriots league win on Thursday.

The Patriots now sport a 1-0 record. They put it on the line next when they host James Monroe for a Coalfield AA battle on Friday, March 20. Independence will encounter a Mavericks team coming off a 13-3 non-league loss to Graham (Bluefield, VA). The Mavericks record now stands at 0-1.

With the defeat, Liberty drops to 0-1 on the campaign. The Raiders host Westside (Clear Fork, WV) to meet the Renegades in a Coalfield AA test on Friday, March 20. The Renegades go into the test with a record of 0-0.
