In Friday's league challenge, the New Hanover Wildcats (Wilmington, NC) baseball squad triumphed over the visiting Laney Buccaneers (Wilmington, NC), by a margin of 9-1.

With the win, New Hanover betters its record to 7-2 on the season. The Wildcats host Topsail (Hampstead, NC) to encounter the Pirates in a Mideastern 3A/4A challenge on Tuesday, March 28. The Pirates come into the challenge with a record of 4-5. Topsail won 9-3 in their recent league challenge against West Brunswick (Shallotte, NC)

With the defeat, Laney falls to 4-3 on the season. The Buccaneers travel to South Brunswick (Southport, NC) to encounter the Cougars in a Mideastern 3A/4A challenge on Tuesday, March 28.
