Ashley Screaming Eagle (Wilmington, NC) fans exited the stadium thrilled Monday as they observed their baseball squad overcome the visiting Topsail Pirates (Hampstead, NC), 9-4 in a non-league game.

The Screaming Eagle (7-1) will now prepare for their game against Forest Park (Woodbridge, VA). The Bruins go into the non-league game with a 2-2 record. In their last game, Forest Park tipped New Hanover (Wilmington, NC), 7-3, in a non-league game.

The Pirates (3-4) will now prepare for their game against New Hanover (Wilmington, NC). The Wildcats go into the non-league game with a 6-4 record. In their last game, New Hanover was overwhelmed by Forest Park (Woodbridge, VA), 7-3, in a non-league game.

Day one of the 2013 Ashley Spring Break Tournament is complete, and the Screaming Eagles moved on to the second round with a 9-4 win over the Topsail Pirates. Sam Cavanaugh drew the start on the mound, his first of the season, and pitched well, throwing 3 innings while striking out 6. Pante Miliotis and Clayton McGee also saw time on the hill for Ashley. The Eagles pounded out 12 hits on the evening, including a 3 for 3 performance by Dakota Perryman, who collected 5 RBIs as well. Shane Shepard, Cully Crott, and Cory Montgomery each chipped in with 2 hits. The Eagles are now 7-1, and will take on Forest Park, VA tomorrow night at 7:30 for a chance to go to the championship game.
