March 26, 2024: New Tripoli, PA 18066 Northwestern Lehigh Tigers (New Tripoli, PA) fans exited the stadium thrilled Tuesday as they observed their baseball squad overcome the visiting Southern Lehigh Spartans (Center Valley, PA), 6-0 in a league test.
With the win, Northwestern Lehigh upgrades its record to 2-3 on the season. The Tigers host Kutztown (Kutztown, PA) to battle the Cougars in a non-league test on Thursday, March 28. The Cougars come into the test with a record of 0-2. Kutztown lost 3-2 in their recent non-league test against Oley Valley (Oley, PA)
With the defeat, Southern Lehigh falls to 2-1 on the season. The Spartans travel to Northampton (Northampton, PA) to battle the Konkrete Kids in a non-league test on Friday, March 29. The Konkrete Kids come into the test with a record of 1-2. Northampton won 9-2 in their recent league test against Allentown Central Catholic (Allentown, PA)
Game Summary
The Tigers got a much needed conference victory at home on Tuesday against Southern Lehigh, by the score of 6-0. The Tigers started fast, scoring 5 runs in the first, highlighted by a 2 run single by W Church, and an RBI single by A Freeman. That would prove to be more than enough runs on this day, for starting pitcher J Farber (6.2 IP, 4 hits, 4 K's). Farber was throwing strikes early and often, and pitched to contact all game. It was the Farber show, in addition to a strong performance on the mound, he also was 3-3 at the plate. The win puts the Tigers at 2-3 (2-1) in the early part of the season.
