In Friday's non-league match, the visiting Portage Indians softball team scored a tight 5-2 victory over the Hanover Central Wildcats.

The Indians (7-7) will now prepare for their match against South Bend Saint Joseph (South Bend, IN). The Huskies go into the non-league match with a 4-6 record. In their last match, South Bend Saint Joseph tipped Mishawaka Marian (Mishawaka, IN), 11-2, in a league match.

In their next game, the Wildcats battle the Munster Mustangs (Munster, IN) in a Northwest Crossroads match, on Monday, May 5. Hanover Central will attempt to better on its 7-6 season record. The Mustangs go into the match with a 17-3 record after their 6-3 league win over Kankakee Valley (Wheatfield, IN).
