The visiting Compton High Tarbabes and the Long Beach Cabrillo Jaguars played to an exciting 7-7 tie which saw the 7 inning contest change leads in each inning played. The home plate umpire called the game a tie as the Babes were ready to bring their leading season hitters to the plate to begin the top half of the 8th inning. Compton began the game by scoring two runs in the first inning, only to see the Jaguars bounce back in the bottom of the first inning with four runs. From there, the lead changed every inning until the top half of the 7th inning with the Jaguars having a 7-6 lead and only needing three outs to win the game. However, Compton showed their true grit by scoring one run after the first two batters were retired. Consecutive singles by Alberto Linderos, Pedro Perez, and Richard Phillips gave the Babes the run they needed to tie the score. In the bottom half with the winning run on second and no outs, ace pitcher Jose Franquez retired the next three batters.
