Indiana High School Softball - Bremen bounces New Prairie
May 3, 2021: New Carlisle, IN 46552 The Bremen Lions the host New Prairie Cougars softball squad by a count of 7-3 in Monday's league battle.
The Lions (7-5) will now prepare for their battle against Penn (Mishawaka, IN). The Kingsmen go into the Northern Indiana battle with a 12-5 record. In their last battle, Penn nudged Mishawaka Marian (Mishawaka, IN), 15-0, in a league battle.
The Cougars now sport a 9-6 record. They play next when they host Jimtown for a Northern Indiana battle on Wednesday, May 5. New Prairie will meet a Jimmies squad coming off a 15-0 league loss to South Bend St. Joseph (South Bend, IN). The Jimmies record now stands at 5-8.
Game Summary
After allowing a Cougar run in the first inning, the Lady Lions struggled to muster up any runs until the 5th inning. After Izzy Clinger double, Paige Thompson singled with 2 outs scoring Clinger, then Jaylin Swint doubled to score Thompson giving the Lions 2-1 lead. The Cougars added a pair of runs to reclaim the lead in the bottom of the 5th.
That 5th inning woke up the Bremen bats, as the Lions added 6 hits and 4 runs in the 6th. Ellia Foster and Thompson had back to back 2-out singles to score those 4 runs. Hanna Depoy added a solo Home Run in the 7th to end the scoring, & give the Lions a 7-3 NIC win.
