Mt. Vernon Wildcats (Mt. Vernon, IN) backers exited the stadium thrilled Saturday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Pike Central Chargers (Petersburg, IN), 4-3 in a league challenge.

The Wildcats now own a 12-8 record. They take the field next when they host Southridge for a Pocket challenge on Tuesday, May 9.

With the loss, Pike Central falls to 17-2 on the campaign. The Chargers host North Posey (Poseyville, IN) to battle the Vikings in a Pocket challenge on Tuesday, May 9. The Vikings enter the challenge with a record of 18-0. North Posey won 7-0 in their recent non-league challenge against Jasper (Jasper, IN)
