In Thursday's league test, the Western Branch Bruins (Chesapeake, VA) softball squad the visiting Hickory Hawks (Chesapeake, VA), by a count of 9-6.

Next, the Bruins meet the York Falcons (Yorktown, VA) in a non-league test, on Monday, May 12. Western Branch will attempt to upgrade on its 13-3 season record. The Falcons go into the test with a 8-7 record after their 19-0 league win over Lafayette (Williamsburg, VA).

The Hawks (16-2) will now prepare for their test against Nansemond River (Suffolk, VA). The Warriors go into the Southeastern test with a 9-8 record. In their last test, Nansemond River was routed by Isle of Wight Academy (Isle of Wight, VA), 9-5, in a non-league test.
