New York High School Softball - Grand Island nudges Akron
May 9, 2024: Grand Island, NY 14072 Grand Island Vikings (Grand Island, NY) backers exited the stadium thrilled Thursday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Akron Tigers (Akron, NY), 3-2 in a non-league challenge.
The Vikings now own a 5-1 record. They take the field next when they host Kenmore East for a Section 6 Niagara - Frontier challenge on Friday, May 10.
With the loss, Akron falls to 1-6 on the campaign. The Tigers host Alden (Alden, NY) to battle the Bulldogs in a non-league challenge on Monday, May 13. The Bulldogs enter the challenge with a record of 6-6. Alden won 8-2 in their recent non-league challenge against Cheektowaga (Cheektowaga, NY)
