Indiana High School Softball - Bremen edged by Elkhart
May 12, 2021: Bremen, IN 46506 In Wednesday's league outing, the visiting Elkhart Lions softball team scored a close 4-3 win over the Bremen Lions.
Coming up next, the Lions encounter the Churubusco Eagles (Churubusco, IN) in a non-league outing, on Saturday, May 15. Elkhart will attempt to upgrade on its 7-8 season record. The Eagles enter the outing with a 6-13 record after their 6-0 league loss to Westview (Topeka, IN).
The Lions (9-8) will now prepare for their outing against Lakeland (LaGrange, IN). The Lakers enter the non-league outing with a 1-14 record. In their last outing, Lakeland was tipped by Fremont (Fremont, IN), 12-11, in a league outing.
Game Summary
The Bremen Girls softball team had three costly errors that allowed all four Elkhart Lion Runs to be unearned. Elkhart scored 2, runs in the second inning when Wade doubled, then after two strikeouts, an infield error allowed Elkhart to take advantage & they did with back to back singles plating 2 runs. The Bremen Lions responded with a 3 spot on their own with a lead off HR by Katie Moyer, after an out & error, another fly out, then a 2 run, 2 out home run by losing pitcher Hanna Depoy. The game went scoreless the next 3 innings until the top of the 7th. After a one pitch out, back to back errors plates a run & then after an out, a single by Pinch plated the winning run. The Bremen Lions threatened in the bottom of the 7th with a pair of walks, but were not able to get the clutch hit to pull off the win.
