The Laney Buccaneers baseball team (Wilmington, NC), 5-3 in Tuesday's non-league outing with the host Ashley (Wilmington, NC)

The now hold a 18-6 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Scotland for a non-league outing on Friday, May 18. Ashley will confront a Fighting Scots team coming off a 2-0 non-league win over Rose (Greenville, NC). The Fighting Scots record now stands at 20-1.

Ashley continues on to the 3rd round of the state playoffs with a 5-3 win over a good Laney team. Ashley took a quick 2-0 lead in the bottom of the 1st, but coughed it up in the top of the 5th, falling behind 3-2. We then plated 3 runs in the bottom of the 5th to take the lead 5-3, thanks to a solo homerun off the bat of Christian Wolfe. Matt Davis (who picked up the win in relief) worked his way out of a no-out, bases loaded jam in the top of the 6th, picking up 2 strikeouts and a flyout. The Eagles move to 18-6 for the season, and will travel to Scotland High School on Friday to take on the 24-2 Fighting Scots.
