In Saturday's non-league game, the visiting Lake Central Indians baseball team scored a close 8-3 win over the Homestead Spartans.

The Indians (20-4) will now prepare for their game against Merrillville (Merrillville, IN). The Pirates go into the Duneland game with a 4-17 record. In their last game, Merrillville nudged Michigan City (Michigan City, IN), 11-6, in a league game.

Next, the Spartans play the Fort Wayne Blackhawk Christian Braves (Fort Wayne, IN) in a non-league game, on Monday, May 19. Homestead will attempt to improve on its 18-5 season record. The Braves go into the game with a 14-7 record after their 14-4 non-league win over Fremont (Fremont, IN).
