August 17, 2023: Vanceboro, NC 28586 In Thursday's non-league contest, the West Craven Eagles (Vanceboro, NC) volleyball squad knocked off the visiting Southside Seahawks (Chocowinity, NC), by a margin of 2-0.
Next up, the Eagles battle the Havelock Rams (Havelock, NC) in a non-league contest, on Monday, August 21. West Craven will attempt to better on its 1-1 season record. The Rams come into the contest with a 0-2 record after their 2-0 non-league loss to Pamlico County (Bayboro, NC).
With the loss, Southside drops to 1-1 on the campaign. The Seahawks travel to Greene Central (Snow Hill, NC) to battle the Rams in a non-league contest on Tuesday, August 22. The Rams come into the contest with a record of 1-1. Greene Central won 2-1 in their recent non-league contest against Eastern Wayne (Goldsboro, NC)
Match Summary
WCHS Junior Varsity volleyball had an up and down match versus a scrappy Southside High Seahawks squad. The first set was in control of the Lady Eagles from the first whistle. Unforced errors kept the Seahawks in the game but the Eagles tightened up and finished the set. The second set was more of a back and forth contest with the Seahawks taking and holding the lead several times. The Eagles had to come back from a 22-24 deficit to finally win the set 26-24. This is the Eagles first win of the season and we are expecting great things from this very young Eagles team.
