In Thursday's non-league contest, the Newton County Cougars (Decatur, MS) volleyball squad were winner over the visiting Lake Hornets (Lake, MS), by a margin of 3-0.

Next up, the Cougars face the Pearl Pirates (Pearl, MS) in a non-league contest, on Tuesday, August 22. Newton County will attempt to better on its 12-1 season record. The Pirates go into the contest with a 0-9 record after their 2-0 non-league loss to West Lauderdale (Collinsville, MS).

With the loss, Lake moves to 4-3 on the year. The Hornets host Pisgah (Sandhill, MS) to face the Dragons in a non-league contest on Monday, August 21. The Dragons go into the contest with a record of 3-1.
