In Friday's non-league game, the Galax Maroon Tide (Galax, VA) football team tipped the visiting Glenvar Highlanders (Salem, VA), by a score of 27-20.

The Maroon Tide (1-0) will now prepare for their game against Giles (Pearisburg, VA). The Spartans come into the Mountain Empire game with a 1-0 record. In their last game, Giles got by Blacksburg (Blacksburg, VA), 35-14, in a non-league game.
