In Saturday's non-league battle, the host Newton County Cougars volleyball team scored a 2-0 triumph over the Pearl Pirates.

The Cougars (16-2) will now prepare for their battle against Union (Union, MS). The Yellowjackets come into the non-league battle with a 8-6 record. In their last battle, Union achieved victory over West Lauderdale (Collinsville, MS), 3-0, in a non-league battle.

Next, the Pirates clash with the West Jones Mustangs (Laurel, MS) in a non-league battle, on Saturday, August 26. Pearl will attempt to advance on its 2-12 season record. The Mustangs come into the battle with a 4-7 record after their 3-1 league win over Pearl River Central (Carriere, MS).
