In Thursday's non-league challenge, the host Edwards County Lions volleyball team scored a 2-0 triumph over the Mt. Carmel Golden Aces.

The Lions (1-0) will now prepare for their challenge against Massac County (Metropolis, IL). The Patriots come into the non-league challenge with a 5-1 record. In their last challenge, Massac County lost by Pinckneyville (Pinckneyville, IL), 2-1, in a non-league challenge.

Next, the Golden Aces play the Norris City-Omaha-Enfield Fighting Cardinals (Norris City, IL) in a non-league challenge, on Saturday, August 30. Mt. Carmel will attempt to upgrade on its 0-2 season record. The Fighting Cardinals come into the challenge with a 2-0 record after their 2-0 non-league win over Cisne (Cisne, IL).
