Arkansas High School Football - Calhoun Academy thwarted by DeSoto
August 29, 2025: West Helena, AR 72390 DeSoto Thunderbirds (West Helena, AR) fans went home in high spirits Friday as they saw their football team achieve victory over the visiting Calhoun Academy Cougars (Calhoun City, MS), 36-14 in a non-league battle.
With the win, DeSoto improves its record to 2-0 on the season. The Thunderbirds travel to Humphreys Academy (Belzoni, MS) to meet the Rebels in a non-league test on Friday, September 5. The Rebels come into the test with a record of 2-0. Humphreys Academy won 54-6 in their recent league test against North Sunflower Academy (Drew, MS)
With the defeat, Calhoun Academy drops to 0-2 on the campaign. The Cougars travel to North Sunflower Academy (Drew, MS) to play the Rebels in a non-league challenge on Friday, September 5. The Rebels go into the challenge with a record of 0-2. North Sunflower Academy lost 54-6 in their recent league challenge against Humphreys Academy (Belzoni, MS)
