Alabama High School Football - Monroe Academy holds off Sparta Academy
August 30, 2024: Monroeville, AL 36461 The Monroe Academy Volunteers (Monroeville, AL) football tipped the visiting Sparta Academy Warriors (Evergreen, AL), 21-16 in Friday's non-league outing.
The Volunteers now sport a 1-0 record. They take the field next when they travel to Clarke Prep for a AISA AAA Region 2 outing on Friday, September 6. Monroe Academy will clash with a Gators squad coming off a 35-30 non-league loss to Crenshaw Christian Academy (Luverne, AL). The Gators record now stands at 0-2.
With the defeat, Sparta Academy moves to 1-1 on the season. The Warriors host Hooper Academy (Hope Hull, AL) to face the Colts in a AISA AA Region 1 challenge on Friday, September 6. The Colts go into the challenge with a record of 0-2. Hooper Academy lost 27-14 in their recent non-league challenge against Edgewood Academy (Elmore, AL)
