With the win, Burrell moves its record to 4-1 on the campaign. The Bucs travel to St. Joseph (Natrona Heights, PA) to battle the Spartans in a non-league bout on Tuesday, September 6. The Spartans go into the bout with a record of 2-2. St. Joseph won 1-0 in their recent non-league bout against Bishop Canevin (Pittsburgh, PA)
In their next game, the River Hawks battle the Indiana Little Indians (Indiana, PA) in a WPIAL AAA 1 bout, on Tuesday, September 6. Armstrong will attempt to move on its 0-3 season record. The Little Indians go into the bout with a 0-1 record after their 4-0 league loss to Hampton (Allison Park, PA).
Match Summary
Tough loss. Armstrong kept it close until the 12th minute of the second half. A poor call in the box led to a penalty kick goal by Burrell. A few minutes later, Burrell had a corner kick and a collision between Armstrong Goalie Caden Smail and a Burrell player led to a lower back injury and early exit for Smail. Brendan Savinda relieved Smail, but two defensive mistakes led to two more goals.
Armstrong did not let down, but could not put another ball into the net. Goals were scored by Hunter Reed (assisted by Jordan Callipare and Alec Formaini) and Alec Formaini (assisted by Seth Crawford).
