Pennsylvania High School Soccer - Wilmington Hickory
September 4, 2024: New Wilmington, PA 16142 Hickory Hornets (Hermitage, PA) boosters exited the stadium pleased Wednesday as they witnessed their soccer team knock off the host Wilmington Greyhounds (New Wilmington, PA), 4-2 in a non-league test.
With the triumph, Hickory moves its record to 1-0 on the campaign. The Hornets travel to Karns City (Karns City, PA) to clash with the Gremlins in a non-league test on Saturday, September 7. The Gremlins come into the test with a record of 2-2. Karns City won 3-2 in their recent non-league test against West Shamokin (Rural Valley, PA)
The Greyhounds now sport a 0-3 record. They take the field next when they travel to Kennedy Catholic for a District 10 Region 1 test on Tuesday, September 10.
Match Summary
The Boys Varsity Soccer team won its first game of the season 4-2 at Wilmington powered by a second half brace from senior Eric McCrimmon on his 18th birthday.
Goals by juniors Luka Harmer and Pacy Ohlinger in the first half put the team ahead at halftime after trailing early in the match 1-0.
4 different players had assists: senior Captain Jakob Harmer, juniors Jake Scarvel and Cole Stoyer, and freshman Dylan Ferguson in support of a well-rounded team win.
It was a solid performance by a very young Wilmington team under veteran first year coach Jeff Kerstetter and junior midfielder Ryder Tervo.
