South County Vipers (Franklin, IL) backers were in high spirits Tuesday as they witnessed their basketball squad tip the host Gillespie Miners (Gillespie, IL), 51-47 in a non-league bout.

With the win, South County upgrades its record to 10-10 on the season. The Vipers travel to Mt. Olive (Mt. Olive, IL) to clash with the Wildcats in a MSM bout on Friday, January 13. The Wildcats go into the bout with a record of 1-13. Mt. Olive won 40-38 in their recent non-league bout against Lebanon (Lebanon, IL)

Next up, the Miners clash with the East Alton-Wood River Oilers (Wood River, IL) in a non-league bout, on Tuesday, January 24. Gillespie will attempt to upgrade on its 3-11 season record.
