Georgia High School Basketball - Athens Academy holds off Oglethorpe County
January 10, 2023: Lexington, GA 30648 Fans at Tuesday's non-league challenge between the Athens Academy Spartans (Athens, GA) and the host Oglethorpe County Patriots (Lexington, GA), saw Athens Academy's basketball squad hold off Oglethorpe County by a tally of 55-49.
With the victory, Athens Academy improves its record to 13-1 on the campaign. The Spartans travel to Banks County (Homer, GA) to confront the Leopards in a AA Region 8 challenge on Friday, January 13. The Leopards come into the challenge with a record of 16-3. Banks County won 49-23 in their recent league challenge against Union County (Blairsville, GA)
Next up, the Patriots confront the Elbert County Blue Devils (Elberton, GA) in a non-league challenge, on Saturday, January 14. Oglethorpe County will attempt to improve on its 9-7 season record.
