Illinois High School Basketball - Abingdon/Avon overwhelms Wethersfield
January 10, 2025: Abingdon, IL 61410 The Abingdon/Avon Tornadoes basketball team scored 60 points and limited the visiting Wethersfield Flying Geese to 34 in the Tornadoes league triumph on Friday.
The Tornadoes now have a 8-9 record. They play next when they travel to Bureau Valley for a Lincoln Trail game on Tuesday, January 14. Abingdon/Avon will confront a Storm team coming off a 55-52 non-league loss to St. Bede (Peru, IL). The Storm record now stands at 3-7.
With the loss, Wethersfield falls to 4-12 on the campaign. The Flying geese host Stark County (Toulon, IL) to confront the Rebels in a Lincoln Trail game on Tuesday, January 14. The Rebels go into the game with a record of 3-9. Stark County won 56-41 in their recent league game against Knoxville (Knoxville, IL)
