Kentucky High School Basketball - Powell County trounces Elliott County
January 11, 2023: Sandy Hook, KY 41171 The Powell County Pirates (Stanton, KY) basketball crushed the host Elliott County Lions (Sandy Hook, KY), 69-42 in Wednesday's non-league test.
The Pirates (6-8) will now prepare for their test against Estill County (Irvine, KY). The Engineers go into the District 56 test with a 8-7 record. In their last test, Estill County was trounced by Madison Southern (Berea, KY), 93-40, in a non-league test.
The Lions now own a 2-9 record. They play next when they host Belfry for a non-league test on Thursday, January 12. Elliott County will encounter a Pirates squad coming off a 66-61 non-league win over Mountain Mission (Grundy, VA). The Pirates record now stands at 2-12.
