Yelm Tornados (Yelm, WA) backers were pleased Wednesday as they saw their basketball squad knock off the host River Ridge Hawks (Lacey, WA), 59-49 in a league bout.

With the victory, Yelm upgrades its record to 1-4 on the campaign. The Tornados travel to Black Hills (Tumwater, WA) to play the Wolves in a non-league bout on Tuesday, January 17. The Wolves come into the bout with a record of 1-7. Black Hills lost 53-42 in their recent non-league bout against Hoquiam (Hoquiam, WA)

The Hawks (0-9) will now prepare for their battle against Timberline (Lacey, WA). The Blazers come into the 3A South Sound battle with a 7-6 record. In their last battle, Timberline was toppled by North Thurston (Lacey, WA), 76-41, in a league battle.
