Niobrara/Verdigre Cougars (Niobrara, NE) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad tip the visiting Elkhorn Valley Falcons (Tilden, NE), 50-43 in a league bout.

With the win, Niobrara/Verdigre upgrades its record to 11-3 on the season. The Cougars host North Central (Bassett, NE) to clash with the Knights in a non-league bout on Tuesday, January 17. The Knights go into the bout with a record of 4-6. North Central won 45-35 in their recent non-league bout against Twin Loup (Sargent, NE)

Next up, the Falcons clash with the Bloomfield Bees (Bloomfield, NE) in a non-league bout, on Saturday, January 14. Elkhorn Valley will attempt to upgrade on its 7-3 season record. The Bees go into the bout with a 5-8 record after their 58-42 non-league loss to Plainview (Plainview, NE).
