The East Carteret Mariners basketball squad (Beaufort, NC), was nudged 60-58 in Monday's non-league battle with the visiting Epiphany Falcons (New Bern, NC)

With the victory, Epiphany advances its record to 6-10 on the year. The Falcons host Greenfield (Wilson, NC) to meet the Knights in a NCISAA Coastal Plain battle on Tuesday, January 14. The Knights enter the battle with a record of 5-10. Greenfield lost 61-53 in their recent league battle against Cape Fear Academy (Wilmington, NC)

The Mariners now own a 0-9 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Jones for a 1A/2A Coastal Plains battle on Wednesday, January 15. East Carteret will meet a Trojans squad coming off a 52-19 non-league loss to Jacksonville Christian Academy (Jacksonville, NC). The Trojans record now stands at 1-9.
