In Saturday's non-league outing, the Mars Fightin' Planets (Mars, PA) basketball squad edged the visiting New Castle Hurricanes (New Castle, PA), by a count of 64-63.

The Fightin' Planets (10-2) will now prepare for their outing against Moon Area (Moon Township, PA). The Tigers go into the WPIAL 5A 4 outing with a 6-6 record. In their last outing, Moon Area was tipped by West Allegheny (Imperial, PA), 53-50, in a league outing.
