Texas High School Basketball - Canton overwhelms Athens
January 15, 2022: Athens, TX 75751 Fans at Saturday's league challenge between the Canton Eagles (Canton, TX) and the host Athens Hornets (Athens, TX), saw Canton's basketball squad wallop Athens by a tally of 87-19.
With the victory, Canton improves its record to 20-6 on the campaign. The Eagles host Van (Van, TX) to confront the Vandals in a 4A Region II District 14 challenge on Tuesday, January 18. The Vandals come into the challenge with a record of 19-5. Van lost 49-27 in their recent league challenge against Brownsboro (Brownsboro, TX)
Next up, the Hornets confront the Mabank Panthers (Mabank, TX) in a 4A Region II District 14 challenge, on Tuesday, January 18. Athens will attempt to improve on its 4-11 season record. The Panthers come into the challenge with a 20-7 record after their 44-35 league loss to Canton (Canton, TX).
