In Friday's league contest, the visiting Gaston Day Spartans basketball team scored a close 67-63 win over the Hickory Grove Christian Lions.

The Spartans (16-6) will now prepare for their contest against Concord Academy (Concord, NC). The Eagles come into the NCISAA Metrolina contest with a 23-3 record. In their last contest, Concord Academy edged Hickory Ridge (Harrisburg, NC), 59-46, in a non-league contest.

In their next game, the Lions battle the Liberty Preparatory Christian Academy Patriots (Mooresville, NC) in a non-league contest, on Monday, January 20. Hickory Grove Christian will attempt to better on its 9-10 season record.
