The Sanger Indians (Sanger, TX) basketball edged the visiting Van Alstyne Panthers (Van Alstyne, TX), 53-50 in Friday's league bout.

The Indians now possess a 19-5 record. They play next when they travel to Aubrey for a 4A Region II District 9 bout on Tuesday, January 21. Sanger will play a Chaparrals team coming off a 62-59 league win over Gainesville (Gainesville, TX). The Chaparrals record now stands at 18-7.

With the loss, Van Alstyne falls to 7-20 on the campaign. The Panthers host Celina (Celina, TX) to play the Bobcats in a 4A Region II District 9 bout on Tuesday, January 21. The Bobcats go into the bout with a record of 17-11. Celina won 59-52 in their recent league bout against Sanger (Sanger, TX)
