The crowd at Friday's non-league challenge between the East Wilkes Cardinals (Ronda, NC) and the visiting Wilkes Central Eagles (Wilkesboro, NC), observed East Wilkes's basketball team overwhelm Wilkes Central by a score of 61-9.

The Cardinals (5-9) will now prepare for their challenge against Starmount (Boonville, NC). The Rams come into the 1A Northwest challenge with a 11-5 record. In their last challenge, Starmount trounced Alleghany (Sparta, NC), 52-39, in a league challenge.
