In Saturday's non-league test, the Orono Spartans (Long Lake, MN) basketball squad defeated the visiting Mayo Spartans (Rochester, MN), by a final score of 77-59.

Next, the Spartans clash with the Chaska Hawks (Chaska, MN) in a AAAA Section 2 test, on Tuesday, January 21. Orono will attempt to upgrade on its 9-3 season record. The Hawks come into the test with a 6-8 record after their 64-56 non-league loss to Jefferson (Bloomington, MN).
