Virginia High School Basketball - Martinsville holds off Mecklenburg County
January 19, 2024: Martinsville, VA 24112 Fans at Friday's league challenge between the Martinsville Bulldogs (Martinsville, VA) and the visiting Mecklenburg County Phoenix (Baskerville, VA), saw Martinsville's basketball squad hold off Mecklenburg County by a tally of 40-38.
With the victory, Martinsville improves its record to 10-5 on the campaign. The Bulldogs travel to George Washington (Danville, VA) to confront the Eagles in a Piedmont challenge on Tuesday, January 23. The Eagles come into the challenge with a record of 6-10. George Washington won 77-67 in their recent league challenge against Bassett (Bassett, VA)
Next up, the Phoenix confront the Amelia County Raiders (Amelia Court House, VA) in a non-league challenge, on Monday, January 22. Mecklenburg County will attempt to improve on its 4-7 season record. The Raiders come into the challenge with a 7-4 record after their 80-68 league loss to Buckingham (Buckingham, VA).
