Perquimans Pirates (Hertford, NC) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad tip the host Martin County Knights (Williamston, NC), 40-38 in a league bout.

With the win, Perquimans upgrades its record to 5-2 on the season. The Pirates travel to Tarboro (Tarboro, NC) to clash with the Vikings in a non-league bout on Monday, January 22. The Vikings go into the bout with a record of 0-4.

Next up, the Knights clash with the North Edgecombe Warriors (Tarboro, NC) in a non-league bout, on Saturday, January 20. Martin County will attempt to upgrade on its 8-4 season record. The Warriors go into the bout with a 1-10 record after their 64-39 non-league loss to KIPP Pride (Gaston, NC).
